MILESTONE WATCH! 3 Carolina Hurricanes on Milestone Watch in 2026-27

As we get another day closer to the 2026-27 NHL regular season, it's never too early to discuss upcoming milestones for players. Regarding the Carolina Hurricanes, which three players are on milestone watch heading into the upcoming season? On the Wednesday Edition of Locked On Hurricanes, Zach begins the show by sharing his thoughts on the captain, Jordan Staal, and how he is not only on an NHL milestone watch but a Hurricanes milestone watch. Regarding the NHL, he is only 21 assists shy of 450 in his career, and three points shy of 750. When it comes to the Hurricanes, Staal is 28 games shy of 1,000 with the team, along with two goals from 200, and one point from 500. Heading into his 15th season with the Hurricanes and his 21st NHL season, Staal is in for a memorable season. Secondly, Sebastian Aho is 44 games shy of playing 800 in his career, all with the Hurricanes. While he did manage to reach 310 goals and 401 assists last season, he is only 40 goals shy of 350 and 49 assists shy of 450; can he achieve both in 2026-27? Furthermore, he is only 89 points shy of 800 in his career. Is he due for an 89- or 90-point season? Finally, Zach concludes the show by sharing his thoughts on how Nikolaj Ehlers is 44 games shy of 800 in his career. He is also 10 assists shy of 350, and nine points from 600 in his career.
