Hospice Is Not A Death Sentence

Hospice is not a death sentence. It is help by specially trained disciplines and offers many caring people to provide assistance to a patient and support the family as end of life approaches. We want people to not fear Hospice but to see how much help can be provided by the dedicated people that choose this employment as a way to demonstrate compassion for critically ill patients and families that are frightened beyond belief. There is unnecessary stigma associated with Hospice care. Our goal with this episode is to remove unnecessary fear of Hospice, so patients and their families are able to fully understand the tremendous benefits hospice can provide. Patients and families facing such an important life altering event are entitled to the best possible care to assist each family member. We hope that we can aid in alleviating fear surrounding the word 'hospice'. We want patients and families to become less fearful and see the support available to them, so that they can be comfortable making the choice to accept Hospice early and receive the full benefit of Hospice service.
