Then the nightmares began.

For years, the same terrifying figure emerged from the smoke every time he fell asleep, ending each encounter just inches from his face before he woke screaming. He eventually learned to live with the recurring nightmare—until moving into a new house changed everything. This time the figure was different, and when he opened his eyes, his dog was staring into the same dark doorway, growling at something he couldn't see.
