The Stories & Secrets of Stardom

Mercedes Mone (formerly Sasha Banks in WWE) broke the internet when she signed with Stardom, the all-women’s wrestling company in Japan! But Stardom was already a hot promotion before Mercedes signed. They were recently purchased by Bushiroad, which also owns New Japan Pro Wrestling, and have already amassed quite a storied history for their relatively 10 short years as a company. StardomCast podcast hosts, Rob Goodwin and Matt Turner, join to talk about Mercedes’ arrival at Stardom, the history of Stardom, and some of its other biggest and brightest homegrown stars and gaijin (aka foreign) talent like KAIRI, Mayu Iwatani, Io Sharai, Giulia, Jamie Hayter and Toni Storm. They break down the infamous Kenny Omega vs an 8-year-old girl match, and the horrific “Ghastly Match” that resulted in some serious injuries for Act Yasukawa and the title being stripped from Yoshiko who was ultimately fired from the company too. They also share some of their favorite, must-see Stardom matches!
