Lindsay Clancy Trial Day 9 | Psychiatrists Reveal Her Mental State

Day 9 of the Lindsay Clancy trial shifted heavily into the psychiatric treatment Lindsay received in the weeks and months before the deaths of Cora, Dawson and Callan. Jurors heard from Dr. Alia Goodheart of McLean Hospital and Dr. Jennifer Tufts, Lindsay’s outpatient psychiatrist, about her worsening depression, anxiety, severe insomnia, suicidal thoughts, medication changes and whether she ever displayed signs of psychosis. Both doctors testified that they did not observe Lindsay to be psychotic during the periods they treated her.

The defense challenged those assessments, focusing on Lindsay’s escalating symptoms, her calls to a suicide hotline, medication changes and the adequacy of her psychiatric care. Dr. Goodheart testified that Lindsay was considered a low/minimal safety risk when discharged from McLean, while Dr. Tufts described Lindsay as “depressed and flat” just one day before the killings, although Lindsay denied suicidal or homicidal thoughts. Tufts’ testimony continued into Day 10.
