Susan & Jeffrey Klungness

"I don't know what's happened to the kid. I don't know if he's a victim. I don't know if he's a suspect. I don't know what he is."

On the afternoon of 2 March 1996, Ronald Klungness returned to his home in Bonney Lake, Washington after a day of work. Greeted by an empty house, he resigned himself to a quiet dinner alone and then fell asleep in the living room. When he awoke just after 6:00 PM, he went looking for his family, only to discover his wife Susan's body in a back bedroom. Their 14-year-old son, Jeffrey, was nowhere to be found.

In the weeks that followed, investigators would probe the mysterious circumstances of Susan's murder. Most mysterious, however, were the circumstances of teenaged Jeffrey's disappearance, having last been seen in the presence of a family friend with a violent past...

The Waltham Triple Murder

The Waltham Triple Murder

In September of 2011, a morbid saga began to play out in a suburb of Boston named Waltham. The bodies of 37-year-old Raphael "Rafi" Teken, 31-year-old Erik Weissman, and 25-year-old Brendan Mess were found in Brendan's second-story apartment. The specific circumstances of their deaths pointed to a vicious killer with personal motives, and robbery was immediately ruled out as a potential motive. The case quickly went cold, but attention would be drawn to it more than a year later, when one of the largest acts of terrorism in American history began to unfold in neighboring Boston... The Setagaya Murders (Revisited)

The Setagaya Murders (Revisited)

On the evening of December 30th, 2000, a family home in Tokyo's Setagaya district would become a house of horrors.Mikio and Yasuko Miyazawa had moved to the home more than 10 years prior, back in 1990, and decided to start their family there. In the years since, they had introduced a daughter (Niina) and a son (Rei) to the world, and comfortably lived next door to some of Yasuko's family members. But it was on the morning of New Years Eve 2000 that Yasuko's mother would attempt to reach the family. First my phone, and then at the couple's front door. When she entered the home using her key, she was unprepared to find the carnage that awaited her...I originally covered the Miyazawa's story back in 2016.
