Story Transcript:

Ga: Bhí an ghaoth ag séideadh go láidir ag Aillte an Mhothair.
En: The wind was blowing strongly at Aillte an Mhothair.

Ga: Bhí Saoirse ag seasamh ag imeall na haille, an fharraige mhór thíos ag béiceadh le cumhacht.
En: Saoirse was standing at the edge of the cliff, the vast sea below roaring with power.

Ga: Ba é seo an áit céanna a bhí sí deich mbliana ó shin, leis an gcuimhne a ghoilleadh uirthi fós.
En: This was the same place she had been ten years ago, with a memory that still troubled her.

Ga: D'fhill Saoirse ar Éirinn tar éis blianta fada thar lear.
En: Saoirse had returned to Éirinn after many years abroad.

Ga: Bhí rún trom ar a croí, ceann atá ann anois go bhfuil sí ábalta díriú isteach air.
En: She carried a heavy secret on her heart, one that she could now focus on.

Ga: Ach níor tháinig sí ina haonar inniu.
En: But she didn't come alone today.

Ga: Péinteáladh an spéir leis an ngrian an tsamhraidh ag taitneamh anuas, ag cuimhneamh ar na laethanta geala a chaith siad, í féin, Niall agus Caoimhe.
En: The sky was painted with the summer sun shining down, reminding her of the bright days they spent, herself, Niall, and Caoimhe.

Ga: Bhí an triúr acu doscartha uair amháin.
En: The three of them had once been inseparable.

Ga: Ach anois, tá rudaí casta.
En: But now, things were complicated.

Ga: “Cén fáth?
En: "Why?"

Ga: ” a d’fhiafraigh Niall go tobann agus iad ag breathnú amach ar an uisce.
En: Niall asked suddenly as they gazed out at the water.

Ga: "Cén fáth gur imigh tú gan focail?
En: "Why did you leave without a word?"

Ga: "Bhí Caoimhe idir an bheirt acu, ag iarraidh na scars a leigheas ar a mbealach caolchúiseach féin.
En: Caoimhe was between them, trying to heal the scars in her own subtle way.

Ga: Bhí sí ann in am an bhróin agus an gáire, agus anois sa dramaíocht seo.
En: She had been there in times of sorrow and laughter, and now in this drama.

Ga: Thóg Saoirse a croí.
En: Saoirse gathered her courage.

Ga: Ba í seo an nóiméad a raibh sí ag ullmhú dó.
En: This was the moment she had been preparing for.

Ga: "Bhí orm imeacht, Niall," a dúirt sí go cúramach, ag cuimhniú ar an lá deireanach ina hÉirinn.
En: "I had to leave, Niall," she said carefully, recalling the last day in Éirinn.

Ga: "Bhí gach rud ró-dheacair anseo domsa.
En: "Everything was too difficult here for me."

Ga: "Níos sia siar, bhí a fhios ag Saoirse go raibh leannán ag Niall, ach bhí eagla uirthi roimh an íoróin gur tuiscint í, ní briseadh croí, a bhí le tabhairt dá hinniúlacht léi.
En: Further back, Saoirse knew that Niall had a lover, but she feared the irony that understanding would come, not heartbreak, to her competence with him.

Ga: Bhí sí ag iarraidh í a thabhairt abhaile sa fírinne.
En: She wanted to bring it home in truth.

Ga: “Bhí rudaí idir linn a bhí rómhór leis an domhain,” arsa Niall, a ghuth ar tí briseadh.
En: "There were things between us that were too great for the world," said Niall, his voice on the verge of breaking.

Ga: "D'inis Caoimhe dom ach níor chabhraigh sé sin.
En: "Caoimhe told me, but it didn’t help."

Ga: "“Bhí suim agam ionat, Niall, ach bhí eagla orm,” a mhínigh Saoirse, ag streachailt leis na cuimhní a theip uirthi a sheachaint.
En: "I was interested in you, Niall, but I was afraid," Saoirse explained, struggling with memories she failed to avoid.

Ga: "Ní raibh mé réidh leis an méid sin.
En: "I wasn't ready for that much."

Ga: "Tháinig an ciúnas orthu.
En: Silence fell upon them.

Ga: Níor ith an ghaoth a bhfocail, ach thug sí leo pian coiteanta, comhchabhair nach raibh ag teacht fós.
En: The wind didn't devour their words, but it carried with it their shared pain, a mutual aid that had not yet come.

Ga: Shíneadh Saoirse láimh amach, láigh Niall í.
En: Saoirse reached out a hand, and Niall grasped it.

Ga: Bhí Caoimhe i bhfad uathu anois, ag tabhairt spáis dóibh.
En: Caoimhe was far from them now, giving them space.

Ga: “Is féidir linn teacht tríd seo,” a dúirt Saoirse go díreach.
En: "We can get through this," Saoirse said straightforwardly.

Ga: "Beimid ionraice roinnt agus go réidh.
En: "We just need to be honest and gentle."

Ga: "Ag an deireadh, ag imeall na haille, díríodh siar orthu féin.
En: In the end, at the edge of the cliff, they turned back to themselves.

Ga: Chuir siad na daltaí sa spéir, ag glacadh le comhaontú fraocháin.
En: They put the students in the sky, accepting a truce of sorts.

Ga: An bhfuil siad fós cairde?
En: Are they still friends?

Ga: B’fhéidir.
En: Maybe.

Ga: A d’fhéadfadh a bheith níos mó?
En: Could it be more?

Ga: Sin rogha atá le déanamh.
En: That's a choice to be made.

Ga: Leagadh an rud fíor, an bogha báistí, ar chul na spéire, ag comhartha láidir d’athrú ó bhriste go scéal nua a bhogann i dtreo, ar oscailt don saol nua.
En: A real thing was laid, the rainbow, on the backdrop of the sky, signaling a strong change from broken to a new story moving forward, open to a new life.

Ga: Thuig Saoirse go raibh iomlán an fhírinne níos lú scanrúil ná mar a cheap sí roimhe seo.
En: Saoirse understood that the whole truth was less frightening than she had previously thought.

Ga: Agus d'aithin Niall gur thóg sé misneach claochlú a ghlacadh, mar a thógann sé misneach ag seasamh ag aill, ag féachaint síos, ach nár léim sé.
En: And Niall recognized that it took courage to embrace transformation, just like it takes courage to stand at a cliff, looking down, but not to jump.

Ga: Sea, dhá cinn le chéile.
En: Yes, two together.
