A Taste of Long Island’s Maritime History (LIVE On-Site at the Oyster Jamboree!)

This week on the Long Island Tea Podcast, Stacy and Sharon are coming to you from Port Jefferson as they experience the Suffolk County Oyster Jamboree and Frolic at Harbor Front Park! They dive into Long Island’s rich oyster and maritime history, explore the local businesses and experiences throughout Port Jefferson, and celebrate the people, traditions, food, and stories that make Long Island such a special place to live, work, and visit.

This week's spotlight features Mike, co-owner of Toasted Oysters, a veteran-owned oyster farm cultivating authentic Blue Point oysters right here in the Great South Bay. A Long Island native and U.S. Navy veteran, Mike shares how he and longtime friend and business partner Ray Smith Jr. built a thriving local business rooted in community, service, and one of Long Island’s most iconic natural resources.

We're raising a glass to Greenport Harbor Brewing Co., which has been crafting beer on the North Fork since 2009. From its original tasting room in Greenport Village to its Peconic location, the brewery brings plenty of North Fork flavor to the Oyster Jamboree with a lineup of local favorites.

We’re also sharing a kid-approved Long Island adventure guide, highlighting family-friendly experiences across the South Shore, North Shore, North Fork, South Fork, and Farmingdale.

Plus, Long Island’s wine country is getting some well-deserved recognition at the 40th Annual New York Wine Classic, where local vineyards earned numerous medals, including top honors for Duck Walk Vineyards, Wölffer Estate Vineyard, and Pindar Vineyards.
