TRUTH COMES OUT TUESDAY: Caleb Eyde: The Tattoo, the Red Flags & 217,331 Files on His Phone

21-year-old Independence, Missouri substitute teacher Caleb Eyde is facing federal charges—but the arrest is only part of this story.

In this Truth Comes Out Tuesday deep dive, Red Flags & Body Bags goes back before the federal case.

More than two years before his arrest, Eyde posted publicly about getting a tattoo containing the initials of children he knew through an A+ mentoring program. He wrote about seeing the children every day, thinking about them “night and day,” and said the experience helped lead him toward becoming a teacher.

But after RFBB covered that tattoo, people who say they knew, worked with, or encountered Eyde began speaking up.

In this investigation, we examine:

• Eyde’s 2024 tattoo post and what he said it represented
• His path from the A+ program toward teaching
• His reported work as an Independence School District substitute
• Viewer accounts involving Kids’ Safari and before/after-school programs
• Firsthand claims from people who say aspects of his behavior concerned them before his arrest
• An unverified allegation that concerns were previously reported to district leadership
• The cyber tips involving Discord that led investigators to Eyde
• The June 30, 2026 search of his home
• The 217,331 image files investigators reportedly located on his phone
• The nearly eight-week period between the search and the public federal case
• What the Independence School District told families
• And the questions that still have not been answered

If you worked with Caleb Eyde, had a child in a school or program where he worked, or have documentation related to this timeline, contact Red Flags & Body Bags privately. Please do not identify children in the comments.
