The 30-Second Breath That Changes Everything

The 30-Second Breath That Changes Everything

Hey there, friend. I'm Julia Cartwright, and I'm so glad you're here with me today. You know, early mornings like this one can feel a little tender, can't they? That moment before the day really gets going, where you might feel the weight of everything that's coming at you. Maybe you're already thinking about your to-do list, or there's just this low hum of tension you can't quite shake. Well, that's exactly what we're here to tend to together. Let's start by getting comfortable wherever you are right now. You don't need to sit in any special way or find the perfect spot. Just find a place where you can settle for the next few minutes. And when you're ready, go ahead and close your eyes, or soften your gaze downward. Whatever feels right. Take a breath in through your nose for a count of four. Hold it for just a moment. And exhale slowly through your mouth for a count of six. Notice how that exhale feels a little longer, a little deeper. Do that one more time. In for four. And out for six. Good. Now, I want to introduce you to something I call the stress-release breath, and it's going to be your secret weapon today. Here's how it works. As you breathe in, I want you to imagine drawing in cool, calm air like a gentle breeze on a summer evening. Feel it entering your body, bringing clarity and ease with it. And as you exhale, imagine releasing all that tension like smoke drifting away from a candle. Not fighting it. Not judging it. Just watching it dissolve. Let your shoulders drop as you do this. Feel your jaw soften. We're going to do this together for the next few minutes. Breathing in calm for four counts. Holding for just a beat. And releasing stress for six. In through your nose, gathering peace. Out through your mouth, letting go of what doesn't serve you. In. And out. In. And out. Notice any places in your body that feel tight right now. Your neck maybe. Your chest. Your stomach. As you exhale, send that breath directly to those spots like a warm light melting tension away. You're not fighting stress here. You're befriending it. Acknowledging it. And gently releasing it. Keep breathing this way. In for four. Out for six. And know that every single exhale is your nervous system getting the signal that you're safe. That you're okay. When you're ready, take one more full breath. And as you exhale, slowly open your eyes. Here's what I want you to do today. Whenever you feel that stress creeping back in, pause and do three of these breaths. In for four. Out for six. It only takes thirty seconds, and it works. Thank you so much for joining me on Stress Relief today. If this helped you find a little peace in your morning, please subscribe so you never miss an episode.
