Did Advanced Civilizations Exist Before Us? The GP Scale of Rise and Fall | Paolo Guizzardi

More than five hundred years ago, a renegade friar named Giordano Bruno wrote that the universe is filled with countless inhabited worlds, each with its own suns and its own peoples. For that vision he was hanged and burned at the stake in Rome in 1600. In this episode of the TruthSeekah Podcast, Italian ufologist Paolo Guizzardi argues that Bruno's cosmic vision is closer to modern ufology than to heresy, and he connects it to a far bigger question: do advanced civilizations rise, flourish, and fall right here on Earth?

Guizzardi and sociologist Roberto Pinotti developed the GP scale, an integrated scale of the evolution of civilizations that measures scientific and technical development, ethical and moral development, and political and social aggregation. The scale runs from level one, tribal societies, to level five, galactic civilizations, and it can be applied just as easily to ancient Earth as to hypothetical exocivilizations. Guizzardi suggests that asteroid impacts may have repeatedly thrown humanity back toward the tribal level, that reports from past life regression sometimes describe lifetimes in Atlantis, and that the ancient astronaut story is really a story about the balance between technology and wisdom. When a civilization grows too fast in science but lags in morality, he warns, it tends to destroy itself before it ever reaches the stars, which is exactly why he believes the beings who visit Earth cannot be intrinsically evil.
