What does chasing a Broadway dream look like when you’re still in the 5th grade?

On this special episode of Frii Lunch: Free Food For Your Soul, The Real Frii sits down with 10-year-old aspiring performer Giovanna Varrone, the youngest guest to join the show to date. Giovanna has been involved in musical theater since age five and is already balancing school, rehearsals, dance classes, voice lessons, auditions and some very big dreams.

But this conversation quickly becomes about much more than performing.

Giovanna shares how she turns nervousness into excitement, finds time for homework between rehearsals, handles hearing “no” at auditions, and keeps moving forward without allowing rejection to determine what she believes about herself. She also talks about the importance of having parents and a small circle that support her dreams without forcing them on her.

With Broadway as one of her ultimate goals, Giovanna offers a surprisingly grounded perspective on ambition, authenticity, rejection, discipline and enjoying the journey even when you don't get the role you wanted.

And her message to other young people may be the biggest takeaway of the entire episode:

Go for it. Follow your heart. Don't allow one person's opinion to stop you from doing what you love. Most importantly, be you.
