Parson's Chameleon Outdoor Keeping with James Cross

Parson's Chameleons deserve more than a month — but this week we're tackling one of the biggest questions in their care: should you keep them outside, and if so, how do you do it safely?

Joining Bill this week is James Cross, a master carpenter with years of firsthand experience keeping Parson's Chameleons outdoors through the swing of hot summers and cold winters. Together they dig into why outdoor keeping brings out a vibrancy in chameleons that's hard to replicate indoors, the real dangers you need to guard against, and the daily — sometimes hourly — judgment calls involved in knowing when to bring an animal in.

From there, James walks through the practical side of building an outdoor enclosure: shade coverage dense enough for a chameleon to fully disappear into, why a soil floor matters, escape-proofing against digging, and the surprising role duct-tape's cousin, Flex Seal, plays in weatherproofing a cage built to survive rain and sun.
