Episode 28: Meighan Part 1 - The Mental Load of Obesity and the Gift of Capacity

Episode 28: Meighan Part 1 - The Mental Load of Obesity and the Gift of Capacity

THIS IS PART ONE!

As a climate scientist, researcher, and lifelong problem-solver, Meighan spent years doing what she was told should work. She exercised. She learned about nutrition. She worked harder. Yet obesity continued to take up more and more space in her life—not just physically, but mentally.

In this conversation, we explore the concept of capacity: the energy, focus, resilience, and mental bandwidth that obesity quietly consumes. Meighan shares how years of constant hunger, burnout, anxiety, weight stigma, and self-blame affected her ability to show up in her career, relationships, and everyday life.

After discovering a B12 deficiency and starting Mounjaro, she experienced something unexpected. Not just weight loss, but the return of mental clarity, physical capability, and a sense of ease she hadn't felt in decades.

Together, we discuss why society often treats suffering as proof of effort, why obesity deserves more empathy, and what becomes possible when managing your weight no longer requires all of your attention.

This episode isn't really about losing weight. It's about what happens when you finally get some of your life back.
