358. Working Mom Mindset: Maximizers Get Things Done: Stop Overthinking and Just Move

Hi Mamas,

Have you ever told yourself you’re “just doing a little more research” when really… you’re overthinking the heck out of something? 🙋‍♀️

In today’s Monday Mindset episode, I’m sharing a quote from my coach, Michelle Cunningham, that stopped me in my tracks:

“Maximizers get things done. We don’t overthink it, we just move!”

As a recovering perfectionist, I needed this reminder… and maybe you do too.

Because perfectionism has a sneaky way of disguising itself as productivity. We research. We plan. We tweak. We make another list. We tell ourselves we’ll start when we have more time, more confidence, more information or a better plan.

But sometimes we’re not actually moving forward. We’re just doing a whole lot of thinking about moving forward.

In this quick Monday Mindset episode, we’re talking about why you don’t need to have steps two through ten figured out before taking step one.

I’m also sharing how starting Mom Wife Career Life taught me this lesson firsthand. I didn’t know exactly where the podcast would go when I started. I didn’t have hundreds of episodes planned or every piece of my brand figured out.

I simply knew I had something I wanted to say.

So I started.

And then I learned, adjusted and figured things out along the way.

Because sometimes confidence doesn’t come before you take action. Confidence is built because you take action.

We’ll also talk about why getting things done doesn’t always mean doing more. Your next move might actually be saying no, delegating something, setting a boundary or protecting your time.

Because the goal isn’t to become the mom who can do everything.

The goal is to become the woman who knows what deserves her time.

Your Monday Mindset Challenge

Think about ONE thing you’ve been overthinking.

Maybe it’s applying for a new job, starting a business, beginning a workout routine, posting the video, having a difficult conversation, setting a boundary, making an appointment or finally starting that idea you’ve been thinking about forever.

Ask yourself:

What is the smallest move I can make today?

You don’t need the whole plan.

You just need the next move.

Less overthinking. Less waiting for perfect. Less convincing yourself that you need to have everything figured out.

Just move.

One decision. One action. One step at a time.
