Winter Is Coming: Heat Your Home & Mine Bitcoin | The Bitcoin Mining Show Ep. 18

Winter is coming. Your Bitcoin miner might be your new favorite heater. ❄️⛏️🔥

In Episode 18 of The Bitcoin Mining Show, Joe “Cinco Doggos” Spencer sits down with Kris Konicki from Altair Tech to talk home Bitcoin mining, heat reuse, and getting ready for colder weather.

We kick things off with a recap of the Midwest Bitcoin Summit in Columbus, Ohio: meeting new miners, hands-on demonstrations, and the conversations around waste energy, stranded energy, and putting mining heat to work.

Then we get practical with three miners from Canaan’s Avalon Home Series: the Nano 3S, Mini 3, and Avalon Q. From a little warmth under your desk to heating a living room, workshop, or greenhouse, we discuss where these machines fit—and what to consider before plugging one in.

In this episode:

₿ Midwest Bitcoin Summit highlights and onboarding new miners

₿ Heat reuse, heat-punking, and the value of useful heat

₿ Avalon Nano 3S: a simple starting point for home mining

₿ Avalon Mini 3: thermostat-controlled heating that also mines Bitcoin

₿ Avalon Q: more hashrate for the home miner

₿ Choosing a miner for your office, bedroom, living room, or workshop

₿ Power draw, airflow, noise, and common setup mistakes

₿ Greenhouses, heated floors, filament dryers, and the future of heat reuse

We also talk about why recovering part of an existing heating expense is a different conversation from expecting a miner to erase your electric bill.

And yes, there’s a Bitcoin-heated tortoise enclosure in this conversation. 🐢
