From Tech Startups to Smut: Allison Whaley on Building Bothered Stories

What makes a successful tech executive walk away from the startup world to build… an erotica platform? This week, we talked with Allison Whaley, CEO of Bothered Stories, your destination for well-written smut. Allison shares what "taking desire seriously" actually means, and why the smartest smut is the smut that respects your brain as much as your body. Whether you're an entrepreneur, an erotica lover, or just curious about what happens behind the scenes of an adult-adjacent brand, this conversation will “bother” you in all the right ways.

In this episode:

- The moment it all changed — when Allison realized she wanted to build something in the erotica space, and what gave her the nerve to actually do it
- "Wait, you're building what?" — how her professional circle reacted when she told them
- Startup skills, smutty applications — the skills from tech marketing that turn out to be really useful in erotica
- Smart, smutty stories — why the "smart" part of that tagline was so important to her
- The stuff nobody anticipates — how an adult-adjacent business differs from the startups she came from, in ways that surprised even her

This is Part One of our conversation with Allison Whaley of Bothered Stories — the story continues next week.
