Trump told Time that certain levels of inflation will pay off the national debt "very rapidly," and two days later his own National Economic Council director Kevin Hassett was asked on Bloomberg whether the White House planned to inflate its way out of the debt and answered "no, absolutely not." The team starts there and works outward into why inflation is the historically normal exit from a $40 trillion debt load, why the debt is never actually going to be repaid, and why being the world's reserve currency makes running permanent deficits something closer to a job requirement than a choice. A protest that began at a single high school in the Paris area in mid September has become a nationwide movement, with more than 400 of France’s 3,700 high schools closed, over 6,500 people arrested and most of them minors, and the unrest now spreading into French speaking Belgium where police have made at least 139 arrests in Liège. The students are demanding substitute teachers, smaller class sizes and repairs to buildings, and teachers’ unions and parents have since joined them, with around 256,000 people demonstrating on a single day.
