The Woman Murdered For Having An Affair With Her Boss

The episode details the tragic murder of Kirsty, a successful car dealership manager, by her long-term partner, Alan Jeremy, after she decided to end their relationship to pursue a future with a colleague named Simon. On the night of August 26, 2008, emergency services responded to a house fire at the couple's home where Alan claimed he rescued his two young children while uncertain of his partner's whereabouts. However, investigators quickly discovered suspicious inconsistencies, including a lack of smoke in the hallways and a smoldering petrol can hidden in the downstairs toilet. An autopsy subsequently revealed that Kirsty had not died from smoke inhalation, but had instead been strangled prior to the fire being intentionally set to conceal the crime. Despite maintaining a cold and calculated demeanor throughout his police interrogations and subsequent trial, Alan was ultimately found guilty of murder by a unanimous jury in August 2009.
