Someone asked me: "How do I become aware of the parts of myself that I don't even have the awareness to see yet?"

The short answer is that I haven't discovered a way to completely be aware of all the things I'm not aware of, and I'm speaking for myself there. So I would say it's a continuous journey for us mere mortals. What I've found is that it's always easier for others around us to see it, hear it and feel it first, which is why I would suggest community is a really powerful element.

Then there's what we can do ourselves. The roller coaster and the tumble dryer, the body giving clues before the mind does, the background question like "why does this always happen to me?", and what it's like for someone else to be on the receiving end of me. I also talk about feeling the emotion without drowning in it, and what past me and future me would say.

In this episode

  • Why I haven't found a way to be completely aware of everything I'm not aware of
  • Why others around us see it, hear it and feel it first
  • The roller coaster and the tumble dryer, and why the second and third time looks a little bit familiar
  • How the body gives clues before the mind does
  • The background question, and flipping a why into a what or a how
  • What it's like for someone else to be on the receiving end of me
  • Feeling the emotion without drowning in it
  • What past me and future me would say
