Shortcut: The Police Shooting of Kumanjayi Walker

This is a "Shortcut" episode. It’s a shortened version of this week’s more detailed full episode, which is also available on our feed.

In 2019, 19-year-old Kumanjayi Walker was fatally shot by Northern Territory police officer Zachary Rolfe in the remote community of Yuendumu. Rolfe was later charged with murder and acquitted in 2022.

Filmmaker Darren Dale joins us to discuss his documentary series 2.6 Seconds: Death in the Outback, which explores the shooting, its aftermath and the impact on Kumanjayi's family and community.

The series is available to stream on SBS On Demand from 10 November.
