True crime is a nonfiction literary, podcast, and film genre in which the author examines an actual crime and details the actions of real people.

The crimes most commonly include murder; about 40 percent focus on tales of serial killers.[1][2] True crime comes in many forms, such as books, films, podcasts, and television shows. Many works in this genre recount high-profile, sensational crimes such as the JonBenét Ramsey killing, the O. J. Simpson murder case, and the Pamela Smart murder, while others are devoted to more obscure slayings.

True crime works can impact the crimes they cover and the audience who consumes it.[3] The genre is often criticized for being insensitive to the victims and their families and is described by some as trash culture.

Podcasts with a true crime theme are a recent trend. The 2014 true crime podcast Serial broke podcasting records when it achieved 5 million downloads on iTunes quicker than any previous podcast.[24][25][26] As of September 2018, it has been downloaded more than 340 million times.[27] It has been followed by other true crime podcasts such as Dirty John, My Favorite Murder, Up and Vanished, Parcast series such as Cults, Female Criminals and Mind's Eye, Someone Knows Something, and many more.[28]

Podcasts have now expanded to more sites such as Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube and many more. They exist to provide others an easy way to learn about true crime murders and mysteries. Spotify has an expanding number of true crime podcasts with Rotten Mango, Conviction American Panic, Bed of Lies, Catch & Kill among many more. This genre has been on the rise as psychologist, Amanda Vicary, said her report found “women were most drawn to true crime stories that gave them tips for spotting danger and staying alive”.[29]

It's been speculated that fear could play a role in the popularity of true crime podcasts. These podcasts often recount horrific crimes, which triggers the fear response and the release of adrenaline in the body. Due to the possibility of bingeing podcasts, adrenaline rushes can be experienced in quick bursts.[30] Another explanation for the popularity of true crime podcasts is due to the serialized nature of crime, in which events happen one after another. Podcasts that explore a crime episodically can utilize this aspect in their storytelling

Nurse's Aide Charged W/ Sex Crimes Involving Memory Care Patients | FULL Police Interrogation

Nurse's Aide Charged W/ Sex Crimes Involving Memory Care Patients | FULL Police InterrogationA former nurse's aide who pleaded guilty to sex crimes involving memory care patients was sentenced to three years in prison on Tuesday.Godbless Uwadiegwu, 59, of Middletown, pleaded guilty to two counts of gross sexual imposition. He sexually assaulted two women at two different facilities in Warren County.Judge Don Oda sentenced Uwadiegwu to the maximum prison sentence, 18 months on each conviction for a total of three years.Victims and their families didn't attend the sentencing hearing due to airline and COVID-19 issues, but a livestream was available for them to watch it remotely. In addition, victim advocate Erika Bourelle read letters on behalf of the victims and their families. One letter was written by one of the victims herself."Some people may not remember, but I do. This happened on his first day in my building. I needed assistance after using the restroom and he came in to help me wipe," she wrote. The victim described how Uwadiegwu sexually assaulted her."I said, 'Hey, what are you doing?' And he was very shocked and said, 'Oh, I'm sorry. That was an accident,'" the victim wrote. "He takes advantage of people who can't defend themselves, and I think he needs to go to prison for as long as possible."Bourelle read another letter written by the second victim's son. His mother suffers from Alzheimer's and dementia"It is obvious what a sad, pathetic person you are. What kind of monster preys on defenseless women?" he wrote. "Thanks to this terrible disease, there is less and less of my mother, but she has moments of clarity, times when mom is back. Her eyes are clear and she is exactly how I remember her. We live for those moments. Unfortunately, when it comes to the sexual assault, my mother remembers."He said Uwadiegwu used to bring his mother gifts and candy to gain her trust. Instead, he betrayed it."My mother doesn't remember much these days, but she remembers you and what you do did. So, she is left with shame and fear. That is the impact on my mother," he wrote. On Tuesday, Uwadiegwu spoke for the first time publicly. He didn't admit to any wrongdoing. He said he was just doing his job."I have been a missionary. I lived in a church, and I have been working to help people in this field," Uwadiegwu said. "As a caregiver, I put empathy in my work in helping people."Uwadiegwu said the job of a caregiver is a very serious job and sometimes he had to clean patients."I really apologize if there was any way to think I have done anything I shouldn't do," Uwadiegwu said. "It never came across my mind at any time. Please believe me."Uwadiegwu faces similar charges in Butler County.Nurse's Aide Charged Sex Crimes Involving Memory Care Patients True Crime Podcast 2022 Police Interrogations, 911 Calls and True Police Stories PodcastBecome a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/the-dark-web-vlogs-join-the-ghost-on-outrageous-adventures-and-explore-the-unimaginable--3255902/support.

Film Crew Tracks Missing 411- The Hunted

Film Crew Tracks Missing 411- The HuntedLots of people have vanished, some for ever, often in clusters (though over many years). So many people have disappeared in fact, with so many co-occuring factors, that David Paulides has written a series of books on the disappearances. He is the narrator and interviewer of Missing 411: The Hunted, though he asks a lot more questions than he answers (or wants to). You can understand why; let’s face it, usually the boring, prosaic answer will probably be the correct one, but who wants to watch a documentary about an elderly man who had a heart attack in the woods? Plus, as becomes clear two-thirds of the way in, Paulides is a man with an agenda: BIGFOOT!Film Crew Tracks Missing 411 The Hunted BIGFOOT Paulides Sasquatch David disappearances disappeared vanished Park Ranger National ParksDarkest Mysteries from Reddit 2022 Best Reddit Stories Podcast 2022Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/the-dark-web-vlogs-join-the-ghost-on-outrageous-adventures-and-explore-the-unimaginable--3255902/support.

The Dude": The DWI Lawyer Who Represented Cocaine Traffickers—and Paid the PriceGUBU, or The Wild Crime Spree That Rocked Ireland In The 1980sBack in 1982, Ireland was still a fairly sleepy little country, to the point that they had only recently stopped letting farmers drive massive herds of cattle through the center of Dublin to market. So nobody was prepared when the country suddenly fell prey to a terrible GUBU. The Irish Times actually declared Ireland “the land of the GUBU,” while the Evening Herald warned that the country was sure to be terrorized by more “GUBU-style antics.” The term was even picked up by English newspapers, prompting one Irish columnist to complain that the Brits would “take everything away from us, even our very own GUBU.”Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/the-dark-web-vlogs-join-the-ghost-on-outrageous-adventures-and-explore-the-unimaginable--3255902/support.
