Ep. 994: How a Hike Can Change Your Life - Randy Brandt

Ep. 994: How a Hike Can Change Your Life - Randy Brandt

This is our first episode of the year and I wanted to highlight a story that captures everything our show is about. Randy is a longtime listener and friend of the show. His story is amazing and showcases the power of adventure in our lives. It all started with a hike.

Several years ago, Randy Brandt and his then teenage son were out hiking when they ran into an older man who shared that he had just completed visiting all the National Parks. From that moment forward, Randy was inspired and made it a goal of doing more adventures and not simply waiting around for retirement to do the things he wanted to do.

He has now visited over 30 National Parks and participated in countless challenges, including bikepacking the Arizona Trail, Colorado Trail, and the Tour Divide in a calendar year, running an ultra marathon, and riding motorcycles through the Himalayas of India!

What are you going to do differently in 2024?

Ep. 441: Free Soloist - Austin Howell

Free Soloing is definitely stupid in a lot of ways. We don't condone the sport. However, Austin Howell struck me as particularly calculated and contemplative in his approach to soloing. Listen in on what goes on in the mind of a free soloist and Austin's thoughts on why the danger is not his forte nor his focus.   DreamingOfGnar.com https://www.instagram.com/freesoloist/ https://vimeo.com/freesoloist Www.TheFreeSoloist.com Support this podcast at — https://redcircle.com/adventure-sports-podcast/donations Advertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brands Privacy & Opt-Out: https://redcircle.com/privacy

Ep. 440: How a Lyft Ride and a Trip to Disney Led to Starting a Himalayan Trekking Company - Mark Johnson

When most people go to Disney World they're not really inspired to go and start a trekking company halfway around the actual world. As you'll learn from this episode, Mark is not most people. In fact, that trip to Disney coupled with a Lyft ride was enough for him and his wife, Holly, to totally transform their lives to pursue a dream that seemed impossible, especially to the folks around them in rural Tennessee. I hope you're as inspired as I am after hearing about this amazing adventure that should prove to us that anything is possible from anywhere, you just have to start moving.  www.hobnailtrekkingco.com www.facebook.com/hobnailtrekkingcompany www.twitter.com/HobnailTrekCo www.doofusdad.com Instagram: @hobnailtrekkingco Upcoming book: https://www.amazon.com/Doofus-Does-Everest-Base-slightly-less-than-epic-ebook/dp/B07K5JY5JN/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1541356618&sr=8-1&keywords=doofus+dad It goes live Nov. 13 but is available for pre-order now.
