Planner Therapy: How to Use Your Planner to Make You Happy

Hosting this podcast has been a rewarding and fulfilling experience for me. Every like, comment and subscription has encouraged me, and every suggestion for improvement helps me shape this podcast to better serve your needs. Revel is a health and wellness platform that was founded by Singaporean startup founder Ann Thomas. We started off as a retail store, but we have since broadened our focus. I'm excited to see the direction this podcast will take us over the next few years.

Today we're talking about how to use your planner to make you happy. That's right, I said it. Your planner can make you happy. You just have to know how to use it right.

We all know that planning is a great way to keep track of your life and get things done. But did you know that it can also help you be happier?

Now, this is a topic that I've been thinking about a lot lately, because I've been trying to get my life together—and I mean it. I've got a new job, and I want to meet people and make friends there. And that means that I need to get my act together. But how?

You can't just sit around and wait for things to happen. You have to take action! And if there's one thing everyone knows about me, it's that I love planning my day. It makes me feel productive, like I'm making progress toward my goals every single day of the week—even if sometimes it feels like nothing at all is happening! And that results in me feeling good about what I'm doing by using my planner as a tool for self-care and reflection.

If you've been listening for a while, you know that I'm all about positive thinking and self care. And today's episode is all about how to use your planner to boost those things.

So here are my top tips for using your planner to make you happy:

1) Start with a clear vision of what makes you happy. What do you want from life? What is your dream job? What are your goals? Write them down in your planner so that they're always front-and-center when you look at it every day. And then write down the steps it'll take to reach those goals—the steps that will get you closer to whatever it is that makes YOU happy!

2) Set weekly goals for yourself that help move you toward those bigger picture items on your list—those things that make YOU happy! You might want a little more time with family, or maybe some more time at work where you can get ahead on projects and feel like an expert in your field; whatever it is, get specific and write it down! The more specific, the better!

How many times have you started a new job, or made a big move, and thought: "I'm going to be happy"?

And then… nope. You weren't. And you're left wondering what happened, and why you thought it would be so different this time.

Well, it's not your fault. It's not because you don't deserve happiness—it's because you were expecting too little of yourself.

When we set goals for ourselves, we tend to think in terms of big wins—the big promotion or the six-figure salary or the dream house in the Hamptons. But what if we were to reframe our thinking just a little bit? What if we realized that achieving even small goals is actually kind of fun? And what if we began to see every step toward those goals as its own reward?

And then… maybe we'd find ourselves getting a little happier every day instead of waiting until some far-flung future moment when everything is perfect before feeling content with life!

That's all for today, folks! I hope you'll spend some time considering planner therapy. I'll see you back here in May!
