How Handwritten Cards Improve Relationships

Hello and welcome to the Revelation podcast. Our goal is to provide simple and logical ideas that will lead you to a healthier, happier life. And today Friends, we're here to talk about the power of handwritten cards.

You know what I'm talking about: those little things you get in the mail, with a personal note and a picture on it? The ones you might have gotten in elementary school when your mom was feeling nostalgic and thought it would be fun to send them to all of her kids?

Well, they're still around, and they're still important!

In this episode, we'll talk about how handwritten cards improve relationships, why they matter so much even in the digital age, and how you can make them work for you in your own life.

I know you're probably thinking, "Yeah, this is a nice idea, but it's not really that important."

But hear me out. When the pandemic hit, and we were all essentially on a longterm grounding season, I bought a bunch of greeting cards online and handwrote cards out to a few of my friends.

And it was one of the best things I've ever done for myself. It was so much fun! I'd never really done that before—I'd always just sent an email or text—and it felt nice to sit down with pen and paper and just write from my heart. It felt like a real gift to myself and to the person on the other end. And they said they loved getting them too!

There's a lot of talk about how technology is killing human interaction, but there are some things that just can't be replaced by the convenience of a screen. One of them is the handwritten card.

Handwritten cards are a way to show someone that you care about them, and they're one of the most personal ways you can communicate your feelings to someone else. This is because they give you time to think about what you want to say, and then actually write it down—a process that involves both the right and left sides of your brain, which makes it more engaging than typing out an email or text message.

Handwritten cards are an easy, inexpensive way to show someone you care.

That may sound like a no-brainer, but there's more to it than that—and the more you know, the better off you'll be. If you're looking to improve your relationships with friends and family members, here's what we've found:

1. Handwritten cards make people feel valued. When you write a card by hand and send it in the mail, you're saying that this person is important enough for you to take the time to make something special for them. And if they're important enough for that kind of effort on your part, they're probably going to feel pretty good about themselves.

2. Handwritten cards create memories. Most people don't save every card they get from friends and family members—but when someone takes the time to write one out by hand and mail it, it becomes something special because there aren't many things that happen in our lives that are unique experiences created by someone else. So when you give someone a handwritten card, they'll remember opening it and reading what was inside for years after that moment happened!

3. Handwritten cards can be used as gifts too!

When you send a handwritten card, you're letting people know that they're important enough for you to spend some time on their behalf. You're showing them that they matter. And when someone feels like they matter, they feel happier in their relationships with everyone around them—including YOU!
