Gemmel & Tim explores the lives and untimely passings of Gemmel Moore and Timroy Dean, two Black gay men who both died from meth overdoses at the home of West Hollywood politico Ed Buck. Their deaths at the now-infamous apartment sent shockwaves through the LGBTQ+ community. The ensuing media circus cooked up a spicy concoction of sex, drugs, race and politics, but had no appetite for the in-depth human stories of who these individuals truly were. This documentary looks at Gemmel and Tim’s parallel walks of life. Powerful and galvanizing, Gemmel & Tim simultaneously investigates the crimes and offers a cautionary tale to keep these events from repeating. The film premiered at Outfest Los Angeles 2021. Belgian native Michiel Thomas is an award-winning documentary filmmaker, cinematographer and editor based in Los Angeles, CA. His debut documentary GAME FACE was distributed worldwide by Netflix in 2016, screened at more than 50 international film festivals and won a dozen awards. Simon Curtis is live with us today!  A proud member of the LGBTQ community, Simon survived cancer at age 10.  That launched him into a creative carreer that includes being an actor, author ("Boy Robot") and a successful singer/songwriter.  His high energy pop has been listened to well over 50 million times. Author David Ambroz and his two siblings grew up homeless under the care of a mentally ill mother. Eventually, all the three children ended up in foster care. About that time, David also realized he is gay--which made him even more of a target for others' cruelty. He tells his story in detail in his memoir A Place Called Home.   Today we talk to him about his story of survivng and thriving, his rise out of homelessness, the fostercare system, to become a successful business executive. He is now a national poverty and child welfare expert, advocate and foster dad. He was recognized by President Obama as an American Champion of Change. He currently serves as the Head of Community Engagement (West) for Amazon.  Previously  he led Corporate Social Responsibility for Walt Disney Television, and served as the President of the Los Angeles City Planning Commission, and as a California Child Welfare Councilmember. After growing  up homeless and then in foster care, he graduated from Vassar and later from UCLA School of Law (J.D.).   With co-host Brody Levesque
