Sinead Diver returns from her 8th place finish at the 2020 London Marathon and talks with Sophie about navigating the flight home before getting into the details of her training structure in the lead-up to London Marathon, how different it was compared to previous training blocks and navigating the lockdown restrictions and recruiting locals Dave Ridley and Nat Rule to pace workouts. Sinead opens up about dealing with a foot niggle before the buildup and rebuilding fitness and headspace setting off. She goes into life inside the hotel bubble, including the differences in COVID testing between Melbourne and London, wearing the bump collar, interacting with other athletes before finally getting into raceday. Sinead gives insight to dealing with the torrid weather forecast and conditions, trying to warm up and the stark differences of the two sides of the race loop and the difficult job the pacers had that day along with GPS watch error, her strategy for a lapped course and what the wind really felt like at St James Park. Sinead goes into the stress of those opening kilometers, then struggling throughout the race to the end and dealing with the results as well as some extra insight from the blood test post-race. Sinead closes with processing the result, what it means moving forward, the process of the post race drug test and reuniting with Ellie Pashley before giving some goss on the after party and mixing with the other runners before flying home the next morning..
