Looking for Roseann Quinn

Looking for Roseann Quinn

On New Year's Day in 1973, a woman met a man at a New York City bar called W.M. Tweeds. They hit it off and went back to her place. But the story doesn’t end there. The woman — a 28-year-old teacher named Roseanne Quinn — was never seen alive again. At least, not by anyone other than her killer. In a way, Roseanne Quinn has died many deaths. First, at the hands of a vicious, violent man. And then again and again and again over the years, as journalists, writers, and filmmakers smeared her name and overlooked her humanity for the sake of scaring other women. Here’s a link to the Slate article from Jude Ellison Sady Doyle: (shorturl.at/fjsJW). The Golden Pheasant Murders

The Golden Pheasant Murders

Late on a May night in 1930, someone crept into the Golden Pheasant Inn. The local restaurant was popular for its chicken dish, and for being a haven where Wisconsinites could blow off steam with slot machines, booze, and sex workers. But the intruder wasn't there for any of that. He was after owner John Van Veghel and waitress Lucille Birdsall, a couple sound asleep in their bed. The subsequent murders shook the small town of Preble, Wisconsin, situated on the outskirts of Green Bay. Rumors began to fly. But over ninety years later, we still don't know who killed John and Lucille. This week, the Murder Sheet interviews Sergeant Mike Knetzger of the Green Bay Police Department. Check out Mike's book on the Golden Pheasant murders, and other local cases here (shorturl.at/akFK5). If you have information on this case, send tips to Mike.Knetzger@greenbaywi.gov. The Delphi Murders: A Conversation with the Captain from True Crime Garage

The Delphi Murders: A Conversation with the Captain from True Crime Garage

The Delphi murders have become a somewhat controversial topic in true crime circles, with adherents of different theories occasionally clashing online. True Crime Garage's recent run of three episodes on the Delphi murders — titled "Under the Bridge" — added to the controversy. Hosts Nic and the Captain, along with an anonymous Reddit researcher, discussed a theory involving several witnesses in the case. Supporters found the theory interesting. Critics felt that the show pointed the finger at an easily-identifiable private citizen without much evidence. The Murder Sheet sat down with the Captain to get his side of the story. This episode features our interview with the True Crime Garage host, as well as some statements from the anonymous Redditor behind the theory. This episode takes a break from our focus on restaurant homicides, and is part of our intermittent series of episodes on the Delphi case.
