Assumption of Mary, Ark of the Covenant: call to holiness, courage to be saints

We celebrate the solemnity of the Assumption into heaven of the Blessed Virgin Mary. In this meditation, we consider the meaning of this feast for our own lives. Following the readings of the Holy Mass, we begin by contemplating the figure of the Ark of the Covenant in the Old Testament, and its fulfillment in Mary. We then consider how the Blessed Virgin is an image for us to follow. We pray to God that He would give us the courage and audacity to desire great holiness, which only He can bring about in us.
