When Generational Trauma Affects Parenting: How to Stop the Cycle & Heal with Tina Hamilton

When Generational Trauma Affects Parenting: How to Stop the Cycle & Heal On this episode of Stages of She, we interview Tina Hamilton, of The Burnt Bean. Tina is an Inner Child Healing & Parenting Coach. She helps moms identify their triggers and underlying childhood messages that show up in their parenting so they can begin to break generational cycles and release their rage.
Our Weekly Wisdom on this episode touches on Ying Yoga, advocating for your children, and knowing that what you see on social media is maybe just a small glimpse into someone’s reality.
Kristina inquires about getting on the same page as your partner when it comes to parenting and raising children as a united front. With social media, we can fall into the trap of having unrealistic expectations about how to raise kids, and what it's “supposed” to be.
Sara wants to know what women can do to prepare for motherhood and parenting – if that is even possible? Spoiler: It is and it isn't. Tina expands on this and recommends stopping to recognize where you find yourself wanting needing more control, while trying to understand where that desire comes from. More people than not have experienced some type of trauma in their lifetime, and this can be highlighted even more when you have kids. It’s like holding a mirror up to yourself.
We talk about being people pleasers and what Tina’s recommendations are for managing these habits – especially if we don’t want to raise children who are also people pleasers.
