It was also known as the South Carolina Lunatic Asylum. If you have lived in Columbia or the surrounding areas, you might have heard it referred to as “Bull Street.” I went to college at USC, and I moved to Columbia in 2010, and I knew the building as “Bull Street.” If anyone brought up “Bull Street,” we all knew they were talking about the Mental Health Hospital.
