Today we are talking about the 8 tips that will help skyrocket your profile. These will help you regardless of your next step, be it higher education or working as a professional.

The key highlights and tips shared through the podcast-

  1. Academics - Good academic scores act as a great base for your profile. Make your profile stronger by taking up well recognised certificate courses. Short online certificate courses are especially useful when a student tries to shift his/ her career from what they had originally studied.
  2. Soft skills - A student’s communication skills are evaluated through the way the SOP is drafted or even through the impact created in the video interview. Aspirants must make an added effort in polishing the way they speak and communicate, both verbally and non-verbally.
  3. Persona - It’s as important to be well put together on the outside as it is essential to be well prepared and read on the inside. As an aspirant, this is just the right time to build upon your personal style.
  4. Work experience - Volunteering work, internships, jobs, pro bono projects are all great examples of work experience. Students with some kind of experience always have an upper hand.
  5. LinkedIn - LinkedIn is the best way to create a professional profile for prospective recruitment officers to evaluate. Here are four top key takeaways for LinkedIn. Firstly, make sure your LinkedIn profile is updated and well written. Secondly post relevant articles pertaining to your area of expertise with your perspective on it. Thirdly, try to connect with the people in your area of interest. Who knows you might find a proactive mentor online? And lastly, try and write short and crisp articles about what interests you.
  6. Social media -Social media is more than just cat and dog memes. Curate or create content that interests you. For instance, you like coding? Why not start off with a youtube channel talking about new updates or nifty ideas in this space?
  7. Extra curricular activities - Your hobbies can range from reading to riding horses, however what universities are looking for is the intent and passion with which you pursue this extracurricular activity. When you talk about your extracurricular activities in your SOP or interview, remember to reflect the sincerity, consistency and growth in your hobby.
  8. Social work - Universities want to associate themselves with students who don't just think about themselves but also about the world around them. Show how you have touched the lives of people around you through your philanthropic endeavors. Big brownie points for this one!
