Ep 23 - Go Time - Physiclo

In this week's episode we headed to the Big Apple to learn how a former med student and three-time Olympian came together to revolutionize performance activewear. If you've always wanted to get a workout while doing nothing other than your typical daily routine, you'll want to tune in! Physiclo (http://bit.ly/2lNVerI) develops functional activewear with built in resistance designed to help runners and athletes maximize their workout efficiency...as well as those just trying to burn a few extra calories while at work. "We were seeing a lot of patients in the clinic suffering from poor lifestyle habits, namely a lack of exercise. That's when we came up with the idea of incorporating exercise resistance bands, commonly used in rehab medicine and physical therapy, into workout clothing." (Frank Yao, Co-Founder) After hitting their goal of $30K on the first day and being featured in Tech Crunch, the two founders were decided to capitalize on their momentum and placed the initial production order before finishing the campaign. We'll explore how these first-time entrepreneurs were able to successfully navigate the many pitfalls of manufacturing their first product and how they were able to fulfill on-time. Show highlights include: 1)How a young, African American Brooklyn native gets into fencing 2)Importance of testing out different marketing strategies 3) How to compete with established players 4) Advice for entrepreneurs: --->Do your research so you can hit your fulfillment deadlines after launching --->Prepare as much as possible 5)Rapid Fire Questions: --->Favorite book/reading - Shoe Dog by Phil Night (http://amzn.to/28QmIVw), Entrepreneur Sub-Reddit (https://www.reddit.com/r/Entrepreneur/) --->Daily habit for success - working out and staying fit --->Favorite life hack - use Physiclo to turn a 45min workout into an hour!
