LONG PAUSE It feels like those days come with so much noise, whether it’s work, or cleaning or picking up kids’ toys. LONG PAUSE So when the sun disappears behind the moon-kissed clouds you retreat to your room to a cushion of no sound. LONG PAUSE And lying on your bed, you connect with a deep peace. You find a comfy position beneath the silken sheets. LONG PAUSE And you open up your breath to feel the air of night and the cool mist enters you with a feeling that all is right PAUSE You choose to be in a place serene away from others where you’re not seen. LONG PAUSE And on those nights when you want to get away, something magical happens at the end of your day. PAUSE From the depths of calm found only in your room, you’re wrapped in love in a spiritual cocoon. PAUSE And before you know it, your cocoon opens up and two gossamer wings elevate you above. PAUSE Your wings are swirling with a kaleidoscope of colors, and as you rise upward, they begin to flutter. PAUSE Neon colors stretch around you from the magic of the wings, and as you float above the house, the chorus of the night sings. PAUSE The cicadas are happy and so is the red fox. The deer are calm and so are your thoughts. PAUSE And you understand intuitively that the animals are free and you want to enjoy your own freedom peacefully. PAUSE And so, like the animals that scurry around in the night, you find this time sacred before the morning light. PAUSE So your filmy, pale wings take you up to the trees where you see the opal moon with total ease. PAUSE And the moon comes alive in a way so enchanting and shares her secrets with you with conscious understanding. PAUSE Your wings flutter brightly and your heart seems to know that the moon’s tip for you is to honor your soul. PAUSE “But it’s hard,” you say in honest protest, and the moon replies, “It will make sense when you rest.” PAUSE The moon continues to share that “Your dreams are your source. Just ask what you want, and you’ll be given it, and more.” PAUSE And the words of great luna send a ripple of peace running through your neon wings, allowing your calmness to increase. PAUSE And the great silver orb smiles and gives you a wink, and your prismatic wings begin to comfortably sink. PAUSE And before you know it, the wings land you gently in bed, and make sure they tuck a pillow under your head. PAUSE Then the wings disappear as quickly as they came, but you are soon to realize that you are not the same. PAUSE You gaze at the window to catch a silver moonbeam. Then close your eyes to find the moon’s dreams. Sweet dreams. Your soul is home at last.  The haze of dreams, Swirl with stardust, The universe is so vast.  PAUSE… You are surrounded by darkness,  And speckles of light twinkle in the distance, A thousand diamonds against a black velvet sky. PAUSE… You feel weightless, as if the universe itself is cradling you gently in its embrace.  You are adrift in the cosmos,  The silence around you so complete, A cocoon of peace. PAUSE… As you float, you notice that your body is starting to relax.  Your limbs become loose and fluid,  Your breathing is slowing down.  Each inhale brings a deep sense of calm,  And each exhale releases any remaining tension. LONG PAUSE… Your body feels light, drifting effortlessly in the vast expanse of space.  You feel your muscles release all their tension as you become more and more relaxed. PAUSE… The stars around you are growing brighter, pulsing with energy.  The colors of the universe are vivid and intense,  Deep blues and purples swirling together in a cosmic dance. PAUSE… You feel yourself being drawn towards one of the stars,  And as you get closer, you see that it is surrounded by a halo of shimmering light.  You feel yourself being pulled into the center of this halo, and suddenly you are bathed in a warm, soothing glow. PAUSE… This light washes over you, filling you with a sense of peace and tranquility.  You feel your mind becoming calm, your thoughts slowing down until they become nothing more than a gentle whisper. Your body is weightless, and you can feel yourself slowly drifting away from your physical form.  You are becoming one with the universe, your soul merging with the stars and matter around you. LONG PAUSE… You are floating in space, adrift in the infinite expanse of the universe, a tiny speck in a vast and wondrous cosmos. Everything is exactly as it should be. Everything is perfect in this magical moment.  LONG PAUSE… Floating,  Floating,  Floating free. The sweet aroma of the flowers,  The smell of rain upon the road,  The fragrance of dinner escaping from the homes.  PAUSE… Breathe it all in,  And let it warm you,  And relax you.  LONG PAUSE… Now imagine yourself opening your mouth,  And becoming aware of what you taste.   The sweet crispness of the night air,  The memories of the food you can still taste, The dryness or wetness of the air as it dances with your tongue.  PAUSE… Breathe deeper,  As you savor the flavors of the night.  LONG PAUSE… Your senses move you through,  The welcoming paths of your neighborhood. PAUSE… Let a deep sense of relaxation expand within,  While your muscles become loose and heavy, And your body melts into your bed.  PAUSE… Dig deep within your consciousness,  And visualize a specific wish or intention you may have.  PAUSE… Now imagine a simple affirmation that describes its essence.  This is what it’s called Sankalpa. PAUSE… Repeat the affirmation silently three times,  Feeling the importance of this desire. LONG PAUSE… Now come back into your body,  As we focus in on each part,  Bringing all of your attention to it,  Feeling that part soften and relax. PAUSE… We’ll begin on your right side.  Bring your attention to your thumb, index finger, middle finger, ring finger, little finger, palm of your right hand, back of the hand, wrist, forearm, elbow, upper arm, shoulder, armpit, waist, hip, thigh, knee, calf, ankle, heel, sole, top of the foot, right big toe, long toe, middle toe, fourth toe, pinky toe. PAUSE… Now the left side. Focus on your thumb, index finger, middle finger, ring finger, little finger, the palm of your right hand, back of the hand, wrist, forearm, elbow, upper arm, shoulder, armpit, waist, hip, thigh, knee, calf, ankle, heel, sole, top of the foot, right big toe, long toe, middle toe, fourth toe, pinky toe. PAUSE… Observe the right side of the back of your body, Heel, calf, thigh, butt, and shoulder blade.  Turn to the left side, Heel, calf, thigh, butt, shoulder blade.  Now onto the lower back, middle back, upper back, and entire spine. PAUSE… Become aware of the back of the neck, back of the head, top of the head, and forehead.  Move to the right side of your skull, temple, ear, eyebrow, eye, nostril, cheek. Now upper lip, lower lip, mouth.  Transition to the left side of your skull, temple, ear, eyebrow, eye, nostril, cheek. Focus on the chin, jaw, throat, upper abdomen, navel, and lower abdomen. Move to the right collarbone, right side of the chest, and right groin.  Move to the left collarbone, the left side of the chest, the left groin, and the pelvic area. Now focus on the right leg, left leg, right arm, left arm, your face, the whole head, the torso, and then your whole body. LONG PAUSE… Bring all your attention to the fresh air that flows through your body as you inhale. Then feel the warm air traveling through your nose as you exhale. Breathe… PAUSE… In synch with each breath,  Count down from 20, inhaling 20,  Exhaling 19,  Inhaling 18,  Exhaling 17,  And so on.  Take your time, staying calm and patient. If you lose count simply start again. LONG PAUSE…   Now it’s time to express your wish or Sankalpa.
