I came across his recent piece in Vanity Fair on the New Right, where he dives inside the new strain of reactionary, retro-patriarchal conservative politics embodied by those like Tucker Carlson and J.D. James Pogue is a journalist and essayist who has written for Harper’s, The New Yorker, The New York Times Magazine, Granta, the New Republic, and Vice, among many others. He is a recipient of support from the Pulitzer Center on Crisis Reporting and was once called a “brilliant young Southern writer” by the Oxford American. He lives in LA, where I help run a native plant nursery. My first book is called Chosen Country: A Rebellion in the West, a first-person account of conflict over public lands in the American west.
