In today’s episode, Eathan shares his experience of attending the memorial service of the late David Anderson, who used to be a co-host on this show, an amazing musician and an even better human being. Community members join in the conversion and each share a few thoughts about David, his unmatched energy, and incredible acumen as a piano tech. We touch upon lesser-known facets of David’s rich life, exploring his legacy as a rock musician as well as a passionate writer. In addition to writing song lyrics, David penned an archive of incredible love notes and poems to his soulmate, Tanya Ragir. Carl Liberman says, “We should all be so lucky to be remembered like him,” and that captures the essence of the conversation.

Further along in the episode, Eathan shares his insights from a previous radio hour featuring guitar maker Danny Koentopp. Danny shared three main topics relevant to all sorts of instrument builders and technicians: hand tools, health issues developed by people who work with their hands and bodies, and import-export issues. One thing that Danny stresses is the CAD software that he learned in school and he talks about the beauty in the math behind the musical instruments: the lines, forms, shapes, and resonances.
