Overconfidence can oftentimes be the precursor to major disappointment. We believe that our natural abilities in a certain area are so good, that we get the idea in our heads that we cannot fail. And, then, when we do inevitably fail...we wonder if we were any good to begin with.

This moment can cause either one of two feelings:

1. Fear: "an unpleasant, often strong emotion caused by anticipation or awareness of danger"

or

2. Panic: "a sudden overwhelming fear, with or without cause, that produces hysterical or irrational behavior, and that often spreads quickly".

So, when we feel either of these feelings, how do we calm these sudden emotional tides - whether it be at home or in the workplace - so that we can start focusing on the right things, move forward with stronger clarity, and perform to the best of our natural abilities?
