Episode 67 - Meghan Bomford (Part 2)

In last week’s episode, I told you the story of 17-year-old Meghan Bomford, who died in Calgary, Alberta on October 18, 2016 when the Jeep she was riding in lost control and rolled over several times. The vehicle was driven by her father, whose blood alcohol content was three times the legal limit. He was severely injured in the crash, as was Meghan’s 16-year-old friend, Kelsey Nelson. Meghan’s father was later convicted on four charges relating to Meghan’s death and Kelsey’s injuries, and he is currently in prison.

Although many local news outlets produced extensive coverage of the crash itself and the subsequent trial of Meghan’s father, none reported the family’s backstory, including the years of psychological abuse Meghan endured at the hands of her father and how that relationship culminated in the untimely death of a teenager.

In today’s episode, you’ll hear my interview with Meghan’s mom, Lisa, and sister, Sarah, who paint a dark picture of a family life filled with alcoholism, abuse, and Shaun’s escalating erratic behavior leading up to Meghan’s death.
