The Expedition Guide Who Ate His Companions | The Colorado Cannibal

In 1874, 6 men set off into Colorado’s San Juan mountains in the middle of winter with the hopes of reaching some newly discovered gold fields on the other side. Two months later, only a single man emerged from the mountains, but instead of being emaciated as early explorers were often later found, the man looked to be weirdly well-fed. This is the story of Alfred Packer, also known as the Colorado cannibal.
