"Crazy Ex" Jessica McCord

We've all heard tales of the "crazy ex" --you may even have a crazy ex but we bet your ex doesn't hold a candle to Jessica McCord.

Jessica McCord and her ex-husband Alan Bates had a bitter divorce, and an even more contentious custody battle over their two daughters.

For 7 years, the former couple engaged in an all out war over custody of their kids. Jessica and Alan had both remarried. Jessica met a police officer while working as a secretary for the Police Department. Alan married to a co-worker in a Maryland theater company.

Finally when Alan had enough, he flew to Birmingham from Maryland in February of 2002 to hammer out a new custody agreement in front of a lawyer. This was the beginning of the end for Alan Bates and his new wife, Terra Klugh Bates.

Jessica McCord with the help of her new husband, Jeff, set into motion a plan to take out for ex-husband for good.

Join Mountain Murders as we discuss the tale of a truly 'crazy ex' in Jessica McCord and the senseless killings of two innocent people.

Brittany Locklear

Brittany Locklear

January 7, 1998 started like any other winter morning for five-year-old Brittany Lynn Locklear and her mother in Raeford, North Carolina — until it didn’t. Brittany, a bright and affectionate kindergartner known for her hugs and cheerful spirit, was waiting for her school bus at the end of her family’s driveway when her mother briefly stepped inside the house. In that short moment, Brittany vanished without a trace.  Hours later, Brittany’s belongings were found discarded along a rural road; the next day, her body was discovered in a drainage ditch miles from home. Despite hundreds of tips, interviews with witnesses, and decades of investigation, her abduction and murder remain unsolved. Intro music by Joe Buck YourselfHosts Heather and Dylan www.mountainmurderspodcast.comBecome a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/mountain-murders--3281847/support.
