PorscheCooled Owner Stories #50 - Bobby 2008 997 Carrera 4S

In today’s PorscheCooled Podcast Michael presents episode 50 of owner stories with Bobby from Portland, Oregon. Like a lot of us Bobby started noticing cars through collecting matchbox as a kid. These including Porsches, Corvettes and Cobras. In the mid ‘80s friends of his neighbours turned up in a black Porsche Turbo with the iconic whale tail. This was the craziest car Bobby ever saw. That was until another of his neighbours’ friends turns up in a white Countach. Seeing these 2 cars together is a memory Bobby has never forgotten. In his mind the Porsche was much sexier, and he instantly fell in love with the 911. A ‘piece of art’ as Bobby remembers it. Although he loves cars Bobby has always been responsible with his money – he never bought a car that didn’t fit a need. Dreaming of owning a Porsche, Bobby would visit car dealers with Porsches on their lot and test drive them - keeping the childhood memory and his dream alive. Fast forward a few years Bobby wanted something special. His wife’s car (a 5 Series BMW) didn’t ‘fix the bug’. From that moment on Bobby’s plan was to buy cars with the intention of trading them up to get to his dream car – the 911. He did just that. Bobby traded his 2013 Toyota pickup for a ’69 Camaro, the Camaro to a Factory Five Racing ’65 Shelby Cobra and the Cobra to a Porsche. Each car funding the next purchase as much as possible. Then comes the 911. Bobby has now traded up and reached his goal. Bobby, now owns and drives a 2008 997 Carrera 4S in black with natural brown leather with a 6-speed manual transmission. He could not be happier. This 911 is just how he wanted it.
