Nico Young After Making The U.S. Olympic Team In The 10,000m | CITIUS MAG LIVE FROM EUGENE!

“I definitely feel like having that success indoors with the two titles helped me gain confidence in my ability to close down a race and win a race in any way. Whether it’s a fast race, slow race, I'm equally as confident. For the rest of the outdoor season, it definitely helped me be not as concerned as the gun went off that I was going to be able to close well off of any kind of race.”

Newly minted Olympian Nico Young joins the show after qualifying for his first Olympic team in the 10,000m at the 2024 U.S. Olympic Trials. He also just announced signing a professional contract with adidas. Nico unpacks his third-place finish in the 10,000m, recaps his incredible NCAA season, shares about his excitement for Paris, breaks down his Mount Rushmore of NAU distance running legends, and lots more. Hear more from Nico in this episode of the CITIUS MAG Podcast.

Paul Snyder on his writing, Kyle Merber college stories, Flagstaff living and more

Paul Snyder on his writing, Kyle Merber college stories, Flagstaff living and more

CITIUS MAG staff writer Paul Snyder joins the podcast after I slept on his couch for 10 nights on a short little training/fun stint in Flagstaff, Arizona. Paul is one of the site's best writers and is best known for his article on "A Presidential Race: What if every U.S. president raced a 5K fun run?" or "7 “The O.C.” Memes Only Middling College Distance Runners Will Understand" He was once name-dropped by Malcolm Gladwell on Bill Simmons' podcast and he's been quoted in Competitor as the brain child behind the cult-phenomenon that has become the Blue Jeans Mile. Paul is a legend. Paul and I discussed how he arrived in Flagstaff, what his running aspirations are after competing at Columbia for four years, how he's found the writing side of running and much more. Paul was a teammate of Johnny Gregorek and Kyle Merber so there's some fun college stories shared there as well. John Conyers Jr.  On the show, Ammar discusses his time running and training at Colorado, why anti-doping interests him as a topic to write about on the site and much more.  Colorado has a storied track and field history so Ammar tackles assembling a Mt. Rushmore of former Buffaloes. You can catch the latest episode of the podcast on iTunes so subscribe and leave a five-star review.
