A Love letter to my wife

A Love letter to my wife

I wanted to write a poem but it ended up being a love letter about my relationship with my wife… I’ve been knowing my wife now for 35 years...we met in 1985 at Shaw University in Raleigh North Carolina… I was 20 years old she was 18 years old from South Plainfield New Jersey and I was a country boy from Goldsboro North Carolina born and raised in rual North Carolina… I remember the first time I saw her I was in the men’s dormitory looking out of the window and suddenly she appeared walking across campus.....one of my best friends at that time was standing with me and when I opened my mouth I said that’s my wife right there..... I’ve never seen her before but I knew that was the woman that would be my wife… Sometimes when we’re together I keep reminding her of how much of a miracle that was that we are here today with a family out of a first time encounter... My son is 17 about to be 18 in March of this year… And I told him I believe the same thing is going to happen to you that happened to me and your mother. I have to tell you there’s nothing like knowing somebody loves you and there’s nothing like growing up together in love with a person that you knew so young... Even though we have had our ups and downs in our marriage but my wife has never ever put me down... when we’ve had a lack of money or circumstances turn dire she always was by my side... I never share anything on my personal side like this but I just felt compelled to do so it may help somebody in their marriage to go back and Fetch the feelings of affection that you had for one another and why you got together in the first place… Don’t give up on each other go back and remember why you started your relationship in the first place and be at peace with each other...

Pastor Keion Henderson speaks on his new book "Lazy Love"

Pastor Keion Henderson speaks on his new book "Lazy Love"

Bestselling author and Senior Pastor of The Lighthouse Church and Ministries shares how to strengthen your relationships—with family, partners, friends, and others—and find deeper satisfaction by learning to love better.   Humans are meant to love and be loved, but so often we fall short at loving well. We take others for granted. We make assumptions. We forget to show our affection. We grow lazy.   We so often fail in our relationships with our families, our partners, our friends, and fellow humans because we are lazy in our love for one another, says Keion Henderson, pastor of the mega-church Lighthouse Church in Houston. Lazy love prevents us from experiencing the deep, soulful fulfillment we long to know. It keeps us from being known and enjoyed by those around us. And it stops us from stepping out to give who we are without expecting anything in return.   In his new book Lazy Love, Henderson unpacks the four kinds of love mentioned in the Bible—eros, or attraction; phileo, or friendship; storge, or familial; and agape, or spiritual love—and shows readers how each shapes our relationships and our lives. He also encourages readers to uncover the unhealthy practices that often lead to damaged or broken relationships and helps reader break free of the patterns that keep us from loving well.   The good news is that each of us can learn to love better and to improve our relationships—with our partners, our children, our friends, our co-workers, and our neighbors. Lazy Love will help readers become better at loving others in all areas of their lives.   Social Media: Instagram: @pasterkeion (1.5M followers) YouTube: @KeionHendersonTV (539K subscribers) TikTok: @iampastorkeion (203K followers) X/Twitter: @PastorKeion (61.4K followers)
