Invest in Yourself and Invest in Others - A Wide-Ranging Conversation about Mental Health, Well-Being, and Personal Development with Dr. Jacqui Horner

What would happen if as Veterinarians we all decided to invest in our mental health, well-being, and personal development?

It’s a great question, and one that this episode's guest vulnerably dives into with us.

Dr. Horner is a native of Clarksdale, Mississippi (Home of the Blues), but has called Georgia ‘home’ since 2001. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Biology in 2010 and Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine in 2015 from the University of Georgia. She currently practices small animal relief work part-time while building the mission and vision of Resilience Rising. She is extraordinarily passionate about mental health, well-being, mindfulness, leadership, and personal development.

In this wide-ranging conversation, Dr. Horner opens up in a variety of ways as we cover:

- Her vulnerable personal journey through both work and life induced mental health challenges

- Learning what's normal and abnormal when it comes to Vet Med Lifestyle

- Using social media in an empowering way to speak about mental health as opposed to "dumping" online

- The Resiliency Rising platform from which Dr. Horner is sharing her experiences

- What's keeping people, specifically Veterinarians, from investing in their personal development

She and her fiance have two fur children of her own: Chance, a Golden Retriever, and Heidi, a German Shepherd, who all live together in West Midtown, Atlanta. Her favourite hobbies include running, lifting, hiking, cooking, reading self-development books, and travel. Random, fun fact: She is fully bilingual, with Spanish as her second language.
