Becoming a Car Designer: From Italy to OEMs to Crazy One-off Projects

This show was full of interesting insights into the life and business of a designer. Oil Stain Lab @oilstainlab is a vehicle design company founded by brothers Iliya and Nikita Bridan. They work with brands and individuals alike who want to build something truly unique. Sometimes it's a lifted Alfa Romeo, others it's a custom Porsche inspired by Can-Am madness. Whatever they put their minds, pens, and hands on, the vehicles tend to get attention.

We talk to Nikita about how they got started, studying in Italy, Art Center in Pasadena, the good and bad working for OEMs, the rational explanation for why concept cars look insane, opening their own business, building an unexpectedly popular fake-vintage Can-Am car, working on the HOONIGAN Porsche, and a ton more.
