The Sisters Boleyn with Christine Morgan

The Sisters Boleyn with Christine Morgan

With this podcast I share a variety of stories from the most well-known dynasty of them all; The Tudors. From simple stories about the people of the time to the drama that was the reign of Henry VIII and of course, religion and politics.

This episode of the podcast is brought to you in part by The Falcon Nest - Handmade, history-themed jewelry. The Falcon Nest specializes in gorgeous replicas of the famous Anne Boleyn “B” necklace. See more at - the-falcon-nest.com - and be sure to use promo code TUDORSDYNASTY to receive 15% off!

So, May 19th is the 483rd anniversary of the execution of Anne Boleyn - I hate to call it an anniversary because that would indicate a celebration, and it was no real celebration for Anne. Except, without her execution I don't believe she would be as popular as she is today. Anne’s sister Mary has been mostly lost to history but part of her still carries on today - we’ll cover that more in a little bit.

On today’s show we have special guest, Christine Morgan - Christine is a historian and web series creator from Charlotte, NC and hold an MA in European History and has been invited to present her research internationally at history conference in the US and in the UK.

Her research covers the history of royal families, royal mistresses, religion, theatre, and propaganda. Christine’s web series called “Untitled History Project” which she writes, researches and hosts, has garnered support in her community and has been used as teaching material in high schools and universities in the US.

Elizabeth, Queen of England - Part Three

Elizabeth, Queen of England - Part Three

Jan 1, 2018 at 11:28am   Elizabeth Tudor has always been on the back-burner for me. While I love the fact that she is the daughter of King Henry VIII and Anne Boleyn I’ve never been as interested in her reign as I have been for her father’s. In this week's episode we continue on with the life of Elizabeth Tudor.  Born in 1533, Elizabeth lived through the reign of her father, brother and sister to become Gloriana. In this series we work through important events in the life of Elizabeth to help me understand why so many of you love her so much.   Thank you to my current patrons - hear your special shout out in the show! Katheryn Howard - Part Four

In this final part of the series I look into the interrogations of those around Katheryn Howard, her confessions, final words and execution. This series has truly been a labor of love. I never would have thought that I would enjoy learning so much about Katheryn Howard - she is not as boring as I had once believed.  -- Written by: Rebecca Larson Voiced by: Rebecca Larson Produced by: Rebecca Larson Music Credits:  Suonatore di Liuto Kevin MacLeod (incompetech.com) Licensed under Creative Commons: By Attribution 3.0 License http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/3.0/

Katheryn Howard - Part Two

Katheryn Howard - Part Two

In the last podcast we ended with Katheryn Howard married and Thomas Cromwell was executed. If you missed it, I’d recommend going back and listening to that one first, it was called Katheryn Howard: Part One.  As a queen of England Katheryn is only remembered for being the fifth wife of Henry VIII, and was executed. If it hadn’t been for her scandalous downfall, and said execution, we would not have as much interest in Katheryn as we do today.   Here is the "transcript" so to speak for this podcast: http://www.tudorsdynasty.com/katheryn-howard-part-two/  -- Written by: Rebecca Larson Voiced by: Rebecca Larson Produced by: Rebecca Larson Music Credits:  Suonatore di Liuto Kevin MacLeod (incompetech.com) Licensed under Creative Commons: By Attribution 3.0 License http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/3.0/  -- Further Reading: Russell, Gareth; Young and Damned and Fair – The Life of Catherine Howard, Fifth Wife of Henry VIII (2016) Loades, David; The 6 Wives of Henry VIII (2014) Licence, Amy; The Six Wives and Many Mistresses of Henry VIII (2014) Fraser, Antonia; The Wives of Henry VIII  (1994) Weir, Alison; The Six Wives of Henry VIII (1991) Kizewski, Holly K.; Jewel of Womanhood: A Feminist Reinterpretation of Queen Katheryn Howard (Thesis 7/30/14 – University of Nebraska – Lincoln)
