E22: The Jars Murderer

On this episode Beth and Wendy discuss Lam Kor-wan aka The Jars Murderer aka The Rainy Night Butcher aka The Rainy Night Killer and The Hong Kong Butcher. Lam is Chinese and he lived and worked as a taxi driver in Hong Kong. He holds the distinction of being Hong Kong’s first (recorded) serial killer. Lam Kor wan had at least 4 Female Victims, we say that because he took pictures and video of his victims mutilated bodies and it looked to some like the body parts photographed came from more than 4 victims. His known victims were age 17 to 31: Chan Fung-lan, female, age 21 Chan Wan-kit, age 31 Leung Sau-wan, female, age 29 Leung Wai-sum, female, age 17 He struck at night and on rainy evenings. MO: He strangled them, took photos of their nude bodies, dismembered them and preserved their sex organs in tupperware containers at home. Lam was apprehended 17 August 1982. This was after he attempted to develop some of his photos of his “projects".
