#39 Dangers of Blue Light Exposure and Chronic Sleep Deprivation at the Biohacker's Live Show

Did you know that even just a few nights of poor sleep gives you the blood sugar levels of a diabetic? Getting less than ideal amounts of sleep decreases your alertness, memory, intelligence, and mood... The craziest thing about it is that you'll get used to sleep deprivation and after a while, you think that your cognitive haze and sleepiness are normal, whereas your brain is simply compensating for lack of sleep When it comes to health and wellness, then sleep is the most important thing. Your brain literally heals itself only during deep sleep and most diseases of modern life can get traced back to poor sleep patterns That's the topic of today's Body Mind Empowerment Podcast. I'm your host Siim Land but this episode isn't actually going to be on the Body Mind Empowerment Podcast. Instead, I hopped onto the Biohacker's Live Show hosted by my friends from the Biohacker's Center in Finland. We're going to be doing weekly live streams on their YouTube and Facebook page where we talk with interesting people in the field of biohacking, human optimization, and overall awesomeness. In this episode, I made a short video about the dangers of blue light exposure at night and hopped onto the live stream for a few minutes in the end because I had other stuff to do. In future episodes, you can expect me to stay on for the full time. This show is hosted by Teemu Arina and Olli Sovijärvi who are talking to Daniel Pardi. Dan is the CEO of Human.OS and he's a sleep expert and human optimizer. Topics discussed: Why sleep is the foundation to health and wellness What are the biggest sleep-related issues Olli sees in his patients What different sleep patterns do hunter-gatherer societies have What are chronotypes and how does it affect your sleep What are circadian rhythms and how to avoid a circadian mismatch Dangers of blue light exposure at night How to protect yourself against poor sleep and artificial light sources And much more...
