Friendship, Cancer and Lessons Learned

Welcome to Season 3, Episode 8, Part 1 of the #campfifiuncensored podcast with my dear friend Ben Baltes.

Over these past few years I’ve been taught the importance of speaking up, stretching oneself uncomfortably, being vulnerable and sharing one’s story because one never knows who needs to hear what you have to share!

Well I did that very thing publicly on December 7th, 2022 announcing from my hospital bed that I had been diagnosed with Early Stage Ovarian Cancer and how I was grateful I was recovering from a successful surgery, the importance of advocating and the importance of women’s health, research and funding.

Because I vulnerably shared my story, my sweet boarding school mate Ben Baltes reached out to me to share his personal story with me and how I inspired him to share his story too.

Because of this connection of inspiration I asked Ben to be a guest of mine to share in more depth our history, our “why” we both have to share our story as we had both been diagnosed with cancer and currently both chemo treatments, how it has enlightened us, motivated us, and taught us life lessons we wanted to pass along.

This is why I do this platform because you never know who you can help while creating listening content in a podcast (in this case) that can go deeper into one’s story.
