This is Episode 5 of the VulnerABLE Podcast with Godwin Chan!All through elementary school it was hard for him to speak in front of 30 people, but by high school he was ready to start speaking in front of 300. This is a story about gaining self confidence.Growing up he was always more concerned with his academic achievements and getting the highest grade in the class. When it came to social status he could care less, and it worked for him because speaking in front of the class was terrifying. Even in front of only 30 people he'd turn read and be sweating like crazy, just waiting for it to end. It wasn't until around the time of his high school graduation that he'd decide to face his fears. He applied to be the class valedictorian which would have meant speaking in front of almost 300 peers. This would begin his journey towards finding his self confidence. It would lead him to begin opening up, and taking more risks in his life and socially. Whether it was the decision to leave his hometown and travel to Montreal for a year of school, or attend more networking events he started to come out of his shell.Now he's the Assistant Event Manager of Discover Your Personal Brand (DYPB), the Co-Founder and CEO of Motif Insights, a SaaS platform and online community. As well as an aspiring author, presently writing his first book on his transformation from a shy, reclusive child to a confident, well-adjusted adult.
